 Proton

The particle emitted to the left is a proton. There are some hints given in the photo, to see it immediately:

  • The track is darker than the tracks of the rest of the particles, due to the large mass of the proton, which results in low speed for a given momentum. Why do slow particles produce darker tracks? Click here.
  • The track is turning to the right, whereas electrons turn to the left. So the charge must be positive.
